Why won't my feeder camera charge?

I’m sorry to hear that your bird feeder camera is not charging. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check the Indicator Light: If the indicator light is red or blinking red, it means the camera is in low battery mode. Use a 5V charger to charge the camera. The camera should show a yellow light while charging and a green light when fully charged. It typically takes 6 to 8 hours to fully charge.

  2. Verify Charging Connection: Ensure that the charging cable is securely connected to both the camera and the power source. Sometimes, a loose connection can prevent charging.

  3. Try a Different Charger: If possible, try using a different charger or charging cable to see if the issue is with the charger itself.

  4. Inspect for Damage: Check the charging port and cable for any visible damage that might be affecting the connection.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please let me know, and we can explore further options such as a replacement or refund.

How do I connect the camera to Wi-Fi?

To connect your bird feeder camera to Wi-Fi, please follow these steps:

  1. Prepare the Camera: Insert the external antenna into the antenna hole on the back of the feeder and tighten it. This ensures a stable signal.

  2. Power On the Camera: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The indicator light will flash blue. After the prompt sound, double-click the power button to enter pairing mode.

  3. Use the Birdnee App:

    • Open the Birdnee app on your phone and enable Bluetooth.
    • Tap the “+” icon and scan the QR code on the camera with your phone.
  4. Check Device Status:

    • Ensure the camera is powered on, the indicator light is blinking blue, and you hear a “ding dong” prompt tone.
    • Make sure Bluetooth is on, then tap “Next” and wait for the device to be discovered.
  5. Connect to Wi-Fi:

    • Connect your phone to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (the camera does not support 5GHz).
    • Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and tap “Next”.
  6. Finalize Connection:

    • Confirm the connection to the 2.4GHz network and tap “Confirm”.
    • Wait for the device to connect successfully.
    • Name your device and tap “Next” to start watching birds live.

Note: After setup, ensure the camera’s waterproof silicone plug is firmly inserted to prevent water damage.

If you encounter any issues, please let me know!

Why is my camera offline?

If your bird feeder camera is offline, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the Router: Ensure that your router is functioning properly. You might want to try restarting it.

Wi-Fi Credentials: Verify if the Wi-Fi name or password has been changed recently.

Signal Strength: A weak Wi-Fi signal can cause the device to go offline. Try moving the camera closer to the router or use a Wi-Fi extender to boost the signal.

Internet Access: Make sure your phone has a good internet connection and can access the network.

App Permissions: Ensure that network permissions are enabled for the app on your phone.

Refresh Device List: Pull down the homepage in the app to refresh the device list and attempt to reconnect the camera.

Network Connection: Try switching your phone’s network connection (from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or vice versa) or connect to a different Wi-Fi network and then reconnect the camera.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please let me know, and we can explore further options.

Why can't my camera recognize a bird?

If your bird feeder camera is not recognizing birds, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Subscription Plan: Ensure that you have selected a subscription plan in the Birdnee app. Go to Me > Bird-watching Plan > your smart feeder, and select your desired subscription plan. The first 30 days are free.

Motion Detection Settings: Open the app, tap the camera setting icon, then Motion Detection. Enable Motion Detection, set the sensitivity to High, and disable Scheduled sleep. Avoid setting any Time settings.

Camera Angle: Adjust the camera’s angle to ensure it can capture birds clearly, and make sure there are no obstacles blocking the camera’s view.

Notifications: In the app, go to device setting > Notification and enable all notification options.

Environment: Ensure the lens is clean and not blocked by leaves or branches. Place the feeder in an open area with natural lighting, avoiding strong backlight or direct sunlight. Keep the bird steady in the center of the frame for a few seconds when it stays on the feeder, and avoid messy backgrounds.

Try these steps to improve the recognition accuracy. If the problem persists, please let me know!

How can I improve bird recognition?

To improve the bird species recognition of your bird feeder camera, you can try the following steps:

Clean the Lens: Ensure the camera lens is clean and not obstructed by leaves or branches.

Optimal Placement: Position the bird feeder in an open area with soft, natural lighting. Avoid strong backlight or direct sunlight.

Steady Capture: Keep the bird steady in the center of the frame for a few seconds when it is on the feeder.

Background Clarity: Avoid cluttered backgrounds that might interfere with AI recognition.

Additionally, make sure that the AI Bird Recognition feature is activated in your app. You can do this by:

  1. Opening the Birdnee app and navigating to Me > Bird-watching Plan > your smart feeder, and selecting your desired subscription plan.
  2. Ensuring that Motion Detection is enabled with sensitivity set to “High” and disabling any scheduled sleep settings.
  3. Adjusting the camera’s angle to ensure it captures birds clearly without any obstacles.

By following these tips, you should see an improvement in the camera’s ability to recognize different bird species.
